Champaign County
Government

Champaign County, Ohio

The physical space needed to support the Champaign County Government had become outdated, both in size and function. Technology, furnishings and equipment needs have changed since the Courthouse was planned and built in the early 1950’s. Due to these changes the size, type and locations of spaces for efficient, safe and functional areas has diminished. The Commissioners felt the need for a masterplan to assess the current conditions, existing needs and future possibilities.

McCall Sharp Architecture completed the first floor renovations to the Champaign County Courthouse. This renovation converted the former Auditor’s office into offices for the County Prosecutor and his staff. The total cost of the project was estimated between $90,000 and $100,000. Commissioners voted to approve and accept the lowest and best bids totaling $83,808, leaving a contingency fund of $7,000.

This masterplan included:

  • Assessment of the existing Courthouse Building
  • Departmental/Office Surveys
  • Design Charettes
  • Relocation Schematic Designs with Associated Probable Schematic Cost Analysis
  • Options with Associated Probable Schematic
  • Summary and Conclusions
  • Comments from Elected Officials
