The Elizabeth Township Trustees (Miami County) engaged McCall Sharp Architecure to renovate a 10,000 square foot pre-engineered building into their Township Fire & EMS station. Until this time, the Township did not provide such services.
The building has 5 Fire/EMS bays along with 2 Township maintenance bays. Heat and ventilation systems were installed in the bays as well as a carbon monoxide diesel tar pipe exhaust system. Spaces were created in the bays for the compressor and generator, turn-out gear and laundry.
The existing two-story offices were renovated into multi-purpose space, kitchen and dining, Fire and EMS offices, dayroom and sleeping rooms with accompanying restrooms and showers. A separate egress stairway was added to the building.
The cost of construction was paramount to the Elizabeth Township Trustees. McCall Sharp Architecture worked diligently to maintain costs and deliver a quality facility. The project was estimated at $263,500 and contracts awarded were 2.2% under our estimates. Construction was completed in June 2004.
